Success Stories

“… the only real measuring stick of a school’s success is the achievement of its students.”

Richard L. Luebke, Jr. CEO

May these real life inspirational stories about ordinary students doing extraordinary things, encourage you.

I Will Be Forever Grateful

Amber  |  Radiography  |  Mesa Campus

I was a 20 year old single mother of two, barely scraping by, when I decided to go to Pima Medical Institute for an Associates Degree in Radiography. The instructors were wonderful and caring. I was already using every kind of government assistance I could to get through school, but my instructors informed me that PMI could offer additional help. Not only do they have a food bank year round, but they even did a toy drive to help the families of students at Christmas. PMI never failed to help me when I needed it. I graduated in 2007 and got a job immediately in my chosen field. Since then, I have been able to make my way in the world and raise my children on my own. Pima Medical Institute completely changed my life, and I will be forever grateful!

Standing Out From The Crowd

Allison  |  Medical Assistant |  Seattle Campus

I’m inclined to believe that only a small percentage of the average college attendees are satisfied with the education and career choices that they’ve made. Pima Medical Institute has given me the privilege to stand out from that crowd and I can say with absolute certainty that the education I received from going there has not only allowed me to be content, it’s allowed me to find structure, self-respect, dignity, and pride. Every teacher I had, every test I took, and every chapter that I read contributed to the complete package that I am today. I will forever and always be thankful to PMI for that and I will proudly help to recognize the school for all of the wonderful things that it can offer.

A Career I Can Be Proud Of

Lori  |  Respiratory Therapy  |  Tucson Campus

Before deciding to attend PMI, I was working in the retail/call center world, going no where fast. I have three amazing children and wanted to have a career that they are proud of, and also strive to be when they get older. My children push me to be a better person every day and I THANK all three of them for my choice to attend PMI’s Respiratory Therapy Program! I graduated in July of 2009 and currently taking classes at Grand Canyon University towards my Bachelors of Science-Respiratory Therapy Degree! Along with being a busy Mom, a full time student, I also was just offered a full time job at UMC!!! PMI has giving me the confidence and knowledge I needed to begin my amazing career as a Respiratory Therapist! Thank You Tucson Respiratory Therapy Instructors, You ALL are by far the most knowledgeable and most helpful people I have ever met!

Job Offers Before Graduation Was Over!

Stephen  |  Radiography |  Seattle Campus

Right out of graduation I had 6 job interviews with 5 offers. One manager even called me with an offer before I got back to my car! Thanks PIMA. At 38 years old you made it easy for me to retrain in a brand new career choice and now I'm with a stable organization and, more important, I love my job!

PMI Motivated Me To Do More With My Life

Anthony  |  Radiography  |  Mesa Campus

Pima Medical Institute made me a more successful and much happier person. All of the teachers were great and very knowledgeable in our field. I learned so much while going to PMI, that I got a job as a CT Technologist right out of school. I got a great education from a great school. I’m currently attending Chadron State to get my bachelors degree and I figure,“Why just stop at an Imaging Technician, when I can continue on a much greater path and, eventually, become a Physician?” PMI motivated me to want to do more with my life.

I Started School The Next Week!

Latonya  |  Dental Assistant |  Colorado Springs Campus

I enjoyed Pima! The faculty was great! I was able to work full time and attend school. The Financial Aid Department helped me get all my paperwork taken care of the same day I enrolled and I was able to start school the following week. I recently completed a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and I am now enrolled to complete a Master's degree in the same field. I enjoyed Pima Medical Institute and it was a stepping stone to my education goal.

A Start in Phlebotomy Leads to an LPN

Loriann  |  Phlebotomy Technician  |  Seattle Campus

PMI gave me my first stepping stone into the medical field and I would do it all over again. I enjoyed my time at PMI's Seattle campus. My husband had to relocate to Nevada prior to my graduation and I was concerned about my externship. PMI came through and made all the arrangements for me to complete my work in Nevada. I am now living in Ohio, have continued my education, and am working as an LPN. I am very thankful for PMI and I highly recommended this school. Thank you PMI!

Helping People Breath Easier

Gregory  |  Respiratory Therapy |  Tucson Campus

After attending a community college for three years, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I took a year off school and worked full time in home healthcare. My manager happened to be a Respiratory Therapist. The combination of watching him work, having a family member with asthma, and my long term interest in the medical field, resulted in my decision to pursue the field of respiratory therapy. I looked around and found Pima Medical Institute to be a flexible program I could complete in a short time, while continuing my full time work schedule. I had always wanted to work in a hospital because of the fast pace and the patient contact, so after graduation I found a job at a local hospital. I love my job there. I love the people I work with. I love the fact that I get the opportunity to help people breathe easier and live a better life. I love going home after a long 12 hour shift knowing I have often saved at least one life. PMI helped me reach my goal of being a medical professional. I will always be grateful to them for that.

A Life Changing Experience

Adriel  |  Pharmacy Technician  |  Albuquerque Campus

PMI was an incredible life changing experience. I never thought I would graduate from college after having my son. Now that I have graduated, I intend to return to school and study more pharmacy because it made me so happy and I just learned so much. PMI prepared me mentally and physically for a career position and made me confident that I would succeed. Since I have a lot of health problems, I learned so much about my medicines and conditions and it became a personal passion. When I am working, the staff are not only blown away by my extensive background for only being a tech, but also by my passionate for my field. I could not be more thankful to PMI for giving me this opportunity.

PMI Prepared

Nathaniel  |  Medical Assistant |  Seattle Campus

After completing the MA program at PMI, I applied for the most sought after MA position in the area. They boast the best pay, as well as the best benefits of any clinic in the area. I impressed them with the skills I learned while going to PMI and they offered me the position. I feel that PMI has truly prepared me and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to study under some of the best teachers!

So Much To Learn

Betsy  |  Nursing Assistant  |  Mesa Campus

I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 10 years and then took a break from the profession for 19 years. I felt a strong desire to return to the health care field so I enrolled in the program at PMI. I thought that there wasn't much for me to "learn" since I had worked for 10 years, but once I got started, I realized there was so much more to learn. Thanks to Kelly Smith, my awesome instructor, I walked away from the program knowing that I had a great education and succeeded in a well-recognized school. I would recommend PMI to anyone who wanted a career in the medical field. Thanks, Kelly!

A New Career Back Home

Ryan  |  Physical Therapist Assistant |  Tucson Campus

I am glad I went to Pima Medical Institute and am very happy with the education I received there. I am currently working in a good career field with goals in mind. While I attended Pima Medical Institute I felt like I was in a family; my class was tight-knit and our professors were a joy to work with and be around. I moved out to Tucson from Indiana, where I left my friends and family, to go to PMI. The professors opened up the lines of communication for me to ask questions and for help with homework, even coming in on a non school day. While at PMI, my class of 2008 was the first PTA’s in the state of Arizona to dissect and learn from cadavers. Our PTA director worked hard to arrange that for us. My employer is impressed by how much I know and can apply to Physical Therapy from my training at PMI. I wanted to go home to Indiana for one of my clinicals and my clinical director worked hard to get me a facility back home where I could do my clinical affiliations and be able to see my family again. This facility that PMI found for me is now my current employer!

From Phlebotomy to Nursing

Carolyn  |  Phlebotomy Technician  |  Seattle Campus

Going to Pima Medical Institute for my phlebotomy certificate was the best career move I made in my life. I am currently just one quarter shy of being a Registered Nurse. Working as a Phlebotomist during my schooling to become a nurse has been nothing but beneficial. I also know that the phlebotomy skills learned during my time at PMI will serve me well in my future career as a RN.

A Great Choice!

Kimber  |  Physical Therapist Assistant |  Denver Campus

PMI was a great choice for me! I was at a point in my life in which I knew what I wanted to do, but didn't know how to go about it. I decided to check out PMI and the Physical Therapy Assistant program and fell in love with it! I am thankful to have gotten this opportunity. I had amazing instructors!

A Career - Not Just A Job

Martin  |  Radiography  |  Albuquerque Campus

When the company I worked for closed it's doors in 2006, I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I was in my late 40's and was suddenly out of work. My son suggested looking into the health care field. My daughter graduated from PMI in the MA program and has been very successful. In fact, she's gone on to medical school and is graduating in June. When I came down to the campus, my adviser, Popi suggested the Radiography program. I felt that the instruction I received was very good. All the instructors were demanding but the subject material required it. My externship was very good and I was exposed to many different environments. In fact, a recruiter told me that I was lucky that PMI gave me that experience because a lot of graduates he deals with don't have a lot of experience. But the bottom line is being prepared to enter the work force and passing the national registry. When all was said and done, everybody in my class passed the registry with very high scores and to my knowledge, everybody has a job. Thank you PIMA for giving me a career, not just a job!

Fabulous Job Placement Assistance!

Kristen  |  Medical Assistant |  Las Vegas Campus

I had a great experience learning at PMI. I would definitely recommend this school to anybody who's even thinking about doing a degree in the medical field. I thought the teachers and staff were outstanding, knowledgeable, and helped me gain the education needed to achieve my goals. The job placement assistance program that PMI offers is fabulous and a great help, especially with the way our economy is today.

Living My Dream

Dennis  |  Radiography  |  Seattle Campus

Getting my associate degree in Radiography at the PMI campus in Seattle has been my best career move to date. After 2 short years I am now nationally certified as a Radiologic Technologist and working in Miami, FL. I am living my dream. PMI provided outstanding instructors, class structure, and clinical experience to prepare me for working anywhere in the U.S. The best part of attending PMI was learning with my classmates. I have made friends for a lifetime and established a great network of imaging professionals and colleagues. One day I will be in a supervisory position and I would not hesitate to hire a PMI alumn.

The Chance To Succeed

Teri  |  Pharmacy Technician |  Chula Vista Campus

I enjoyed every second at PMI! I graduated with Honors in the Pharmacy Technician program and found a job at a hospital before I was even done with school. Now I am working and making the kind of money I expected to make thanks to my teachers Mr. Walsh and Mr. Montoya. Thank you PMI for giving me the chance to succeed!

10 Years Later - Still Love Going To Work!

Alex  |  Ophthalmic Medical Assistant  |  Tucson Campus

PMI, as I see it, paved the road to my Awesome Success Story. What I'm proud of is not only the TONS of patients I have helped see (literally), but the person I have become because of the preparation I received at PMI. I used to be pretty shy and stand-offish, actually. The "Ice" was easily broken at PMI in a gentle and hands-on kind of way. It has been more than 10 yrs since I graduated and my family and friends could not be any prouder! There is no better feeling than waking up every morning (even a Monday) and loving going to work! I would like to thank the program, the Instructors and administration for My Success!I have recently purchased my own home in exciting new Uptown Phoenix all by myself - which was one goal I thought would be far-fetched! I had perfect attendance as well (and they were night classes after a full day of work). I'm very proud of that too! Thank you Soo Much PMI! You Rock!

I Toot PMI's Horn All The Time!

Deborah  |  Phlebotomy Technician |  Renton Campus

Going to school at PMI was a refreshing, uplifting and encouraging experience for me. I toot PMI's horn all the time!! It was great! Graduating with honors was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life, especially after struggling through junior high and high school. If there was a school closer to where I live, I would probably take more courses just because I enjoyed it so much. Thanks so much PMI!!

Successful In The Workplace

Michael  |  Medical Assistant  |  Seattle Campus

My experience at PMI was a memorable one. I truly had the opportunity to re-invent myself and to learn news skills to afford me to be successful in the workplace. The faculty and administrative staff were very professional and supportive during my time at PMI.

Living A Dream Come True

John  |  Respiratory Therapy |  Tucson Campus

After my layoff from AOL I had no idea what I was going to do next. I knew one thing, after spending 24 years in the Call Center world and not being able to move up due to a lack of education, I was not going to go back. I talked it over with my girlfriend and we made it possible for me to go back to school and live my dream. I had spent 6 years in the military in the medical field, however when I got out, the civilian world did not recognize anything I had to offer (I had to supervised to put on a band-aide). My dream in life was to be a medical professional and PMI made it possible. I am now living out that dream as a Respiratory Therapist. It's never to late to pursue your dreams. At the age of 49 I graduated and was selected to the Lamda Beta Honor Society. I thank PMI for allowing me the opportunity to live my dream, AOL for laying me off, and my girlfriend for supporting me.

Springboard To A New Career

Gary  |  Ophthalmic Medical Technician  |  Denver Campus

PMI was the spring board I needed for my second career. It gave me the training and confidence to go out to a completely different field of work and succeed. I am now the clinical director of a 6 doctor ophthalmology practice and love my job. I would recommend PMI to anyone that is driven to succeed in a new career.

You Are Never Too Old!

Susan  |  Pharmacy Technician |  Albuquerque Campus

I was a single Mom for several years. I was working more than full time in a convenience store and taking care of 2 elderly parents, in addition to raising my youngest child. After both parents passed away and my son graduated from high school (all within 2 years). I realized that it was "MY TURN". I saw a PMI commercial while watching some late night TV. The next morning I made an appointment and enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician program. I have never regretted that decision for a minute. I was the oldest person in my class and probably the most determined to succeed because of that. My education at PMI gave me the confidence I needed to take a new career path and getting to actually work in a pharmacy during my clinicals was the most awesome experience. I was offered a job there before I even graduated!! How cool is that?

I'm Achieving My Dreams!

Renee  |  Veterinary Assistant  |  Seattle Campus

Going to PMI gave me the motivation I needed for school. I loved the short time it took to complete my desired field, and after that, PMI gave me the self-confidence I needed to go back to school to pursue my dream - being a Veterinarian! Thank you PMI for helping me achieve my dreams!

Achieving My Career Goals

Vanessa  |  Medical Assistant |  Tucson Campus

PMI really helped me achieve my short term career goal! I graduated in 9 months and had a job as soon as I completed my Externship! I now do Triage for an 8 provider office, and hold many responsibilities. It doesn't stop there, PMI is also helping me achieve my new milestone...The nursing program! Thanks PMI...Vanessa CMA

Feeling Prepared

Cristy  |  Medical Assistant  |  Denver Campus

I've been working in pediatrics for five years, and PMI has done a wonderful job preparing me for front and back office work so I can jump in and help where needed. I'm looking into other programs at PMI for further education.

Excellent Online Experience

Stephanie  |  Advanced Placement Track - Radiography |  Mesa Campus

My PMI experience was excellent. The Online Advanced Placement Radiography Program taught me more than I ever needed to know to pass my registry and become an R.T. The online classes are very user friendly, and the instructors were great! I would recommend this program to anyone. It is such a reward everyday to go to work, and know that you are making a difference in someone's life....

I Made The Right Choice!

Louise  |  Medical Assistant  |  Tucson Campus

I am not ashamed to admit that PMI was not my first choice, I had begun to enroll at another school for their MA program. I was not at all pleased with their enrollment process or student relations. I stopped by PMI after a family member said that she liked the atmosphere. I went to check it out and ended up testing that same day. I believe that I chose the right school and I loved my experience at PMI. I had great teachers and the office staff was just as great, whether it was helping with a job in the computer lab after school or assisting in a career search. I graduated with a good GPA and Honors status. I am working at a company that was suggested by the staff at PMI. I love my job and it is a wonderful place to be while I am earning my bachelors degree. I am now processing workers compensation claims and have also been entrusted with various special projects, all with the help of my training at PMI. I have not been without work since I graduated. I love working in the medical field with both clinical and clerical training it is easy for me to do what I love.

Motivated To Do More With My Life

Anthony  |  Radiography |  Mesa Campus

PMI made me a more successful person and a much happier person knowing that I got such a great education from such a great school. All of the teachers were great and very knowledgeable in our field. I learned so much while going to PMI that I got a job as a CT Technologist right out of school and. PMI motivated me to want to do more with my life...I figure why just stop as an imaging tech when I can continue on a much greater path and eventually become a Physician!!

Supervisor New York City Hospital

Chris  |  Respiratory Therapy  |  Denver Campus

I really didn't have much going for me before deciding to go back to school. I was just out of the Marine Corps and had no real idea of what I wanted to do. I decided to look into Respiratory Therapy because I liked the idea of having direct patient contact while maintaining a very strict specialization. I can honestly say that PIMA was the school that got me to where I am today. I worked for a few hospitals in Colorado before moving with my wife to the New York City area. After working at a very large city hospital I had the opportunity to become a Supervisor of a 30 therapist department. Since graduating in 2003 I have been able to reach my goals and focus on even larger goals down the line. Thanks PIMA for all the support!!!

Freedom & Travel

Kali  |  Respiratory Therapy |  Mesa Campus

My education at PMI has allowed me the freedom I was wanting in both my professional and personal life. Since graduating from the Respiratory Therapy Program in 2006 I have traveled around the U.S. as well as out of the country using the training and degree I received from PMI. I have worked as a traveling Respiratory Therapist, a Sleep Lab Tech, and I even did healthcare volunteer work in Nepal. Now I am ready to continue my education and I am thinking of going back to school to get a Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management.
